Valentine Glitter Lace Card

Materials Needed:

Ultrafine Opaque Glitters: #3 Valentine, #79 Black
Ultrafine Transparent Glitters: #141 Magnolia, #269 Horizon, #284 French Lilac, #235 Mustard (transparent colors found in "Young at Heart" kit)
Burgundy Colored Card Stock folded to 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"1/8"
Sticky Strip, 6" long
Designer Dries Clear Adhesive
Ultrafine Metal Tip
5 1/2" x 4 1/4" Sticky Paper
5" x 7 " Piece of Lace (Preferably a Large Pattern)

Directions:

  1. Peel off backing of sticky paper.
  2. Lay lace over sticky side of paper. Firmly smooth on all areas of lace to sticky side of paper.
  3. Spoon on Valentine glitter. Tap off extra glitter back into plastic tray.
  4. Pull off lace to reveal lace pattern.
  5. Flood card with Magnolia glitter to fill in remaining sticky part of paper.
  6. To adhere lace panel to front of card, apply adhesive on back, and firmly adhere to front of card, leaving a 1/4 overhang on top. Turn card over and fold remaining overhang to stick to back of card for a finished look.
  7. Use decorative edge scissors to cut along lace edge, leaving 1/8" border.
  8. Apply sticky strip to bottom edge along inside of card. Glitter with Magnolia.
  9. Apply adhesive to 1/8" border along bottom of lace scallop with Ultrafine Metal Tip. Glitter with Valentine.
  10. Add adhesive dots over glittered sticky strip and carefully sprinkle Valentine glitter on each dot so it does not affect lighter colored glitter on strip. Highlight lace designs by tracing over outlines with glue and sprinkle with Valentine glitter. A heart or two can be added too.
  11. Let dry. Apply a light coating of acrylic spray, if needed.

3-D Butterfly

  1. Purchase package of Barbara's Butterfly preprinted on coated card stock, or stamp Barbara's Butterfly on stiff card stock and let dry.
  2. With Ultrafine Tip apply Dries Clear Adhesive to black areas of image. Flood area with Black glitter. Let dry.
  3. Fill the first area of wing (except where Black has been applied) with adhesive. Do not fill entire butterfly, as adhesive dries and makes glitter less effective.
  4. Using spoon, tilt butterfly slightly and apply Mustard. Tap off excess glitter into tray. Repeat with other colors in strips, Horizon, French Lilac, and Magnolia, place the first color closest to body, creating a gradient effect by carefully applying each color over the top of the next one.
  5. Repeat for other four quadrants. Let dry completely for 3-7 hours.
  6. To complete card, closely cut out butterfly, and clip between wings. Gently fold wings up and fold around finger to shape each wing. Apply adhesive to back of butterfly body and firmly place on center of card. Let dry overnight.
  7. Return to Learning Center
