Emma McDonald • Mar. - Apr. - May 2011

From an early age I dreamed about becoming an artist. I drew on anything I could get my hands on, from paper and cardboard to walls and doors. One time I even used sharpies to draw on the underside of my family's kitchen table! Of course, Mom didn't approve of that stunt, but she and my Dad always encouraged me to do my best and they decided buying more art supplies would do the trick. Indeed it did! In fifth grade I won my first art contest. That was it for me-I was hooked! In sixth grade, I began taking formal art lessons at school and in 7th grade I completed my first real painting on canvas.

Throughout high school I continued on the painting path until 2002 when I discovered a new world of art, “CRAFTING,” when I started working at a Michaels Store! Soon I was promoted to front end supervisor, on to department manger, then events coordinator.  I began teaching classes, learning and demonstrating new techniques, and even designing my own crafty projects.  After 3 years, I was introduced to Jo Pearson- the Chief Designer at Michaels Corporate Office.  I began sharing my ideas and soon enough she asked me to be a part of her design team! I was indeed grateful for such an amazing opportunity!  She taught me the ropes and over a span of 5 craft-crazed years we made a ton of projects, but more importantly- loads of memories.

Now I am a stay at home wife /artist/ craft designer for a company I started called Emmaculate Designs. Check out my website: www.emmaculatedesigns.com. One of my greatest passions is combining my painting past with my current, crafty creations and making what is now so popularly called “Mixed-Media.” I use an array of found objects, buttons, old dress pattern, glitter, scrapbook paper, stamps, rhinestones, paints, watercolor, beads, pastels, airbrush, stencils, fabric, hardware supplies (that I steal out of my hubby’s work van), and about another paragraph of obscure items I have in my studio. The sky is the limit with this medium, and that’s probably why I love it so much!

In addition to enjoying the projects I make for my-self, I believe sharing that joy of creativity with my community is just as important. I have taught jewelry making in a minimal-security prison for women. I regularly teach craft classes at a public library and an after school program for a lower income apartment complex. Check out my blog and see what I’m up to now at: www.everydayemmaculate.blogspot.com.

So on this creative journey, I’ve not only learned how to emboss, paint, stencil, and stamp but I’ve discovered a part of God’s destiny for my life.  It was the voice I started to hear as a little girl.....it was the hope of having my very own dream come true...and it was all wrapped up in a simple phrase, “I was CREATED to be CREATIVE!”  Now, I’m living out that dream and my GOAL is to inspire others like YOU to pursue your destiny through CREATIVITY!

Kaaren Poole • June - July - Aug. 2011
I live in the Northern California countryside on 10 wooded acres, otherwise known as Paradise. Here with me in Paradise are dog, cat, and duck family members and my sister who is also my best friend. It seems that I’m older than the other Art Glitter Designers and I just want everyone to know that you’re never too old for glitter! In fact, glitter, gleam, and sheen may get even better with age as the bonds of conventionality fall away one by one!

My first work life was in the computer industry, but now I’m able to indulge something I always enjoyed but didn’t follow as a career – art. I work in several different media both 2D and 3D and my favorite subject is animals. My current goal is to get juried into the Society of Animal Artists, and once I achieve that, I will be working towards signature status in that organization.

I sell my art on my website (wildharestudio.org) and eBay (seller id kaapoole), and write about it on my blog, wildharestudio.blogspot.com. Whenever I am fortunate enough to sell my art, I donate 100% of the proceeds to animal charities. Along with my family, animals, and friends, art brings joy to my life every day and glitter brings joy to my art!

I hope you enjoy my projects, and happy glittering!

Shannon Bielke • June - July - Aug. 2011

As a child, I wanted to be like my mom, an artist herself. In reality I became an artist because I've always felt the need to create, thus, art has always been a defining factor in my life.

In college I earned a BA in fine art, and now I teach art on all levels from elementary age through college. I design projects for and teach classes at Paper and Metal Scrappers in Payson, I'm a designer for CHA, and a contributing designer or design team member for a number of different companies.

I have a wonderful supportive family, my husband Scott, and four beautiful children, Allison, Matt, Jeff, and Hannah. Newly an empty-nestor, I'm finding more time to explore my creative urges which are continually changing, evolving and dragging me along for the ride!

My website is about my art and my latest projects, check it out: Shaandco.net.

Laura Drahozal • June - July - Aug. 2011

I am a former art teacher and current substitute teacher from Michgan, where I live with my fabulous husband Steve and spoiled Collie, Emma.  I have a BFA from the University of Michigan and can find artistic inspiration in just about everything.  I have participated in many forms of art, from stained glass to sculpture and metalwork to colored pencil drawing.

I discovered papercrafting in 2004, after my mother was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer.  It was then that I realized how much of life we let fly by.  Scrapbooking allowed me to capture thoughts in the same way that my other love, photography, allowed me to stop moments.  Papercrafting causes me to draw from all my artistic interests, and challenges me to discover new ways to incorporate them.

I started my blog in March 2010, rememberinglifesmoments.blogspot.com.  I am on the design team at Scraptales in Brighton, Michigan, where I also work part time and teach classes.  I just love showing people new techniques and can now be found demonstrating on the Scraptales Youtube channel.

Recently, I have been honored to be on the Dreamweaver Stencils Design Team and published four times in The Stampers' Sampler and Scrap & Stamp Arts.

I am very excited to be an Art Glitter Guest Designer.  I believe that there isn't alot that can't be improved by the magic of a little Art Glitter, and can often be seen covered in it myself!

Janelle Burba • Feb. - Mar. - Apr. - May 2011
I am an Arizona native living in the beautiful pine trees of Payson, Arizona.  I am a wife and mother of three amazing children.  I currently have only one busy teenager left at home and she is the light of my life.  When I am not chasing her around, you will find me in my studio creating... something and nothing. I am inspired by the world around me which includes my two dogs and the breath-taking scenery near my home.   I am a scrapbooker/paper crafter at heart but dabble in altered art and just about anything "crafty".  I am blessed to be part of a local crafting circle that feeds my creative soul as well as encourages my "blingdom".  I am a believer in anything worth doing is worth over-doing as you will be able to see in my designs.  I love making everything shiny and love adding texture to my pages and projects... usually in the form of glitter and rhinestones.

When not crafting, my hobbies include: traveling, flying, and watching lots of high school sports.  Please feel free to email me with questions or comments about my projects as I would love to receive feedback.  My email is janelle0515@yahoo.com. Thanks for looking.

Christine Lehto • Sept. - Oct. - Nov. 2010

My name is Christine Lehto. I try my best to stay young at heart and
remember how much wonder can be found in the smallest, simplest things. One of my goals in my artwork is to try to capture the wonder of new things. I strive to reflect and symbolize the enchantment of a young person dreaming in much of my creative endeavors. I live in a small town in Wisconsin where I can take bike rides along a nature trail during the non-Winter months. Riding outside in nature is like a mini getaway each time I ride and I discover the beauty of nature in its smallest details along with my camera. I earned my BFA degree at UW-Oshkosh with an emphasis in drawing and sculpture. While attending school, I discovered my love of watercolors and sculpting with Apoxie Sculpt. This is when and where Lilly the Ladybug (the main character from my storybook) took shape and blossomed into a variety of subjects for my work. Both Lilly and I hope you enjoy the work of Lilly Bug Studio and discover, "the wonder of new things."

I have an online Etsy store, Lilly Bug Boutique, where I create and sell a selection of products from limited edition prints and sculptures to pins, pens and magnets. I design all of my items and I take pride in creating items with superior craftsmanship. One of my most recent collections are my
UpCycled sculptures made with burned out light bulbs, named the"Recyc-a-lites" and empty plastic or glass bottles, named "Re-Bottled." Currently I am also looking into the prospect of licensing my artwork and publishing my watercolor illustrations for children's picture books.

I am a 33-year-old transplant from Seattle living in Atlanta, Georgia. I was born from creative genes, so I'm carrying on the tradition. I have been knitting for 18 years, sewing for longer and decoupaging for just a few. I do all of these things on a daily basis, or at least as much as I can. In addition to Mod Podge, I love the color blue, dogs, reading, cold weather, funny movies, road rallies, yogurt, garden gnomes, sock monkeys, running, tattoos, being outdoors, buttons, snuggling and apparently blogging. Who knew I would love it this much? Please visit my blog for more fun and projects: Mod Podge Rocks!

Lori Mendenhall • June - July - Aug. 2010
• Sept. - Oct. - Nov. 2011 •
I'm a jewelry designer and mosaic artist from Orange County, CA. My favorite materials are resin, epoxy clay, polymer clay, glass and of course glitter!  I'm very happy to be here at Art Glitter sharing some of my techniques on how I incorporate glitter (and other Art Glitter products) into my jewelry.

About six years ago I needed to re-claim some "me" time. I took a simple jewelry-making class and immediately became enthralled with the possibilities. My work has appeared in "Belle Armoire Jewelry", "Bead Unique", "Bead Trends", "Bead Star", "Polymer Clay Cafe", Bead-A-Day Calendar, and the book "Weave, Wrap, Coil: Creating Artisan Wire Jewelry".

Besides crafting, I love to read, travel, and bake. Wish I had time to do all of these much more often! I have a son and daughter who keep me busy as a chauffeur, cook, maid, and homework helper. Feel free to email me at lorimendenhall@cox. net with questions. Lots of people helped me along the way, and still do - and I am glad to give back. For more of my designs see www.lorimendenhall.com.

Cassandra Midkiff • June - July - Aug. 2010
• Dec. 2011 - Jan. - Feb. 2012 •

My name is Cassandra Midkiff, I live in beautiful Sedona, Arizona and have the privilege of having Art Glitter only 20 minutes from my house. I am a full time graphic design student, single mother of one independent 6 year old girl (who has a brilliant imagination and lots of spunk) altered artist and homemaker. When not creating I enjoy finding hidden treasures at thrift and antique stores, spending time with my family, visiting the ocean any chance I get, getting lost in a good book or movie, finding myself on road trips, adventuring in my fantasies, thinking of the never ending possibilities and hoping that one day I can make them realities.

I find inspiration in the sea and love anything to do with it; mermaid themes are my favorite art pieces to create. I love the unique and unusual; I love dark art and skeletons, but equally enjoy fairies and hearts. Art Glitter adds that extra magic to my pieces and I have been using it since I started creating collages and altered art!

I appreciate everything hand made and take a great deal of time and care when making my own pieces. I have been creating and selling collages and altered art for 10+ years (drawing/painting since I can remember) and have been selling my work online for 8 years now. I have had local shows and sold in boutiques in Sedona & Phoenix AZ. I sell mostly through etsy now http://www.etsy.com/shop/jupiterdesigns and when given the chance write in my blog http://jupiterdesigns.blogspot.com/ I am hoping to make new friends, inspire some of you and become more involved in this amazing handmade movement.

Emily Montenaro • Mar. - Apr. - May. 2010

Emily has always had a fondness for any type of paper craft.  When she was little, she made cards for her family with her little "Great Greetings" fashion plate card maker.  She remembers going to an art supply store with her Dad every weekend where she got to pick out a fancy marker to add to her collection.  She started stamping in 2001 and has been loving it ever since!

After a 10 year corporate career in Information Systems, she became a SAHM in 2005 when she moved from Ohio to California with her husband and young son.

Emily has been designing for A Muse Artstamps since 2006.  Her card designs can be seen in local stamp stores around the world and in the A Muse Design Studio Gallery. She has been published in Paper Crafts Magazine and teaches stamping classes in Southern California. http://stampingscoops.blogspot.com/

Laura Fraedrich • Mar. - Apr. - May. 2010
• Dec. 2011 - Jan. - Feb. 2012 •

My artwork is a result of many years of collecting art supplies and reading about how to use them, but never having the time to actually do it. Now that I finally can make art full time, I mix many different mediums into each piece because I am just so excited to use them all. The resulting art is a combination of acrylics, watercolors, clay, collage, chalks, oil pastels, ink, found objects, beads, glitter, fabric, fibers, recycled materials, and whatever else I can find that might become part of a unique piece of art.

Much of my work is influenced by my other passion in life, my pets. My life revolves around them, so why shouldn't my artwork? The portrayal of animals in my work is often lighthearted, whimsical and humorous, and my goal is to put a smile on the face of anyone that views my pieces.

My art contains bright, vibrant, and unusual color combinations. I am attracted to these colors like a moth is attracted to a flame, and it is very apparent in my artwork. Deep purples, yellow greens, rich reds, and warm oranges are like candy to my eyes. Naturally these are the first colors I reach for when creating my pieces. Pastel shades are almost non-existent in my work.

My goal as an artist is to inspire others to grab some art supplies and explore their creativity. Art has always been therapeutic for me. A few hours of sitting at a pottery wheel or smearing paint around a piece of paper can make even the worst mood melt away. I want to help others find that they can enrich their lives and relieve stress by scheduling some time to create art into their days.
I am currently working on developing my own rubber stamp line, as well as taking as many art classes that I can fit into my schedule at the Maricopa County Community Colleges in AZ.

Cheryl Waters • Mar. - Apr. - May. 2010

My name is Cheryl Waters and I reside in beautiful South Orange County, California. I’m so happy to give you a glimpse into my world and look forward to getting to know many of you better. I have been married for 19 years to a great guy and have one beautiful, fun-loving eleven year old daughter who brightens my life. I have a very close family and we love football and sports in general. I love spending time with my family and also enjoy the outdoors.

I have had the blessing of being a lead and founding Fiskateer (www.fiskateers.com/blog) and began my journey in 2006. The fiskateers are enthusiastic crafters who share the Fiskars love and make up a warm and loving community. They mean a great deal to me. My first two years as a lead Fiskateer, I learned a great deal and took great joy in being a part of a groundbreaking experience. I am so grateful to be a part of the Fiskars family . . . a company that loves its crafters, crafters that love each other, the company and community. It has been incredible to watch this community grow from four to almost 7,004 (just around the corner).

I work full time in law enforcement and enjoy working with the community. I have enjoyed having the opportunity to use some of my artistic abilities in my law enforcement position. Crafting is so much about life! Prior to working in law enforcement, my husband and I (later came my daughter) lived overseas, primarily South Africa, Zambia and Madagascar for about six years. I learned so much about life, culture and community. It was a life altering and growing experience.

Paper arts and mixed media has always been a part of my life in some fashion. Besides teaching at several different venues as a Fiskateer in several different states, I have also served as a Creative Team Member at my local scrapbook store; Timeless Treasures in Rancho Santa Margarita for almost six years. I enjoy teaching altered and fine art projects and also like to draw. I love altering items of any kind and ‘thinking outside the box’ with my projects. I lean toward a ‘Shabby Chic’ type of style.

I have taken pleasure in sharing some of my artistic world with Stampington and Company. I enjoy writing articles and creating projects for Somerset Home, Somerset Memories (formerly Legacy), Handcrafted, Stamper’s Sampler and others. I’ve been a guest designer with other companies such as Tattered Angels, Jump Create and other sites.

Lastly, I’ve enjoyed being a part of a wonderful group of artists and gals this past year. Some have been friends for years and others are newly developed friendships. Our journey was called “A Year in the Life of Me” but folks call us the Lucky 13. 13 artists came together scrapping each others photos for 2009. In January we swapped the canvas pages we artistically created for one another and these works of art will be cherished for a lifetime. You can see more at www.theluckythirteen.blogspot.com More to come soon in print.

So again, I’m thrilled to be here and share what I love about Art Glitter products. I have long had a love relationship with Art Glitter and I can’t wait to share why.

Shelly Hein-Simmons • Dec. - Jan. - Feb. 2010

I share my home with husband Danny, 3 dogs 1 cat, 1 stray cat, Sheldon the Wonder Turtle and his fish friend, in Lakeside (San Diego) California.  When I am not scrapping, I love being on the water and fishing (hence my online name – Reel Girl!).  Animals and water are a big inspiration in my creations.   I also love sewing, reading and crossword puzzles.  I have been scrapbooking my life and “altering” things since childhood - always gluing pictures and memorabilia into some sort of album and  personalizing every item I owned.  My scrapping and paper crafting took on a new dimension and truly became a creative outlet for me in 2001.  I am proud to have been published in Memory Makers Magazine, and several online scrapbooking and paper crafting Ezines, including Ready, Set, Create! and Scrapbook News and Review.

Anam Stubbington • Dec. - Jan. - Feb. 2010

Hello, my name is Anam and  I am so stoked to be here! I have been scrapbooking nearly 6 years now and enjoy it so much – it is my down time, creative space and personal therapist.  Some of you might know me as ‘Kihaku’ around the internet (it means spirit and pronounce Ki-haa-Ku and is Japanese for Anam).

I am originally Irish, moved to the UK a billion years ago to be with Ian – my now hubby – and then 3 years ago we moved to Canada for Ian’s work (he’s a computer games artist).  We have 2 little girls who are our blessing – both came after a long struggle with infertility so they are very precious to us. Fay is 5 ½ years old and about to enter grade 1 – She is a gentle soul but also can be frustrating. Lily is just over a year old and is the opposite of Fay – lily is loud and constantly moving – if anything just by personality Fay is Ian’s and Lily is mine except in the mornings – both Ian and lily are NOT morning people. Ian is very understanding with my paper obsession.  We’ve  been together 11 years now and he is my best friend – supportive and annoying in good measures but I love him totally.

When it comes to scrapbooking, I am all about the stories, the memories, the moments. I love bright colours, dimension and texture. I try to make the paper part of the emotions of the page – getting them to help tell the story so it’s a combined effort of photograph, title, journaling and the papers!. Visit my blog that contains little bits of what goes on in my world: A Little Of My Life

VIOLETTE CLARK • Sept. - Oct. - Nov. 2009

I am a mixed media artist, author,  designer, workshop instructor and creative catalyst. I live in beautiful B.C. Canada with my partner Mr. G (aptly named for his tolerance of glitter) in a purple magic cottage.  The cottage sports a huge papier mache dragonfly drenched in glitter!

My first book "Journal Bliss: Creative Prompts to Unleash your inner Eccentric" is all about Visual Journaling.  My passion is to teach others to embrace who they are through the vehicle of their creativity.  I do this mainly through classes on Visual Journaling (among other mixed media projects), in my online classes and in my blog. My home, glittery van and art have been featured on numerous TV shows.

You can check out my blog at http://www.violette.ca/blog.html and sign up for my newsletter here www.violette.ca (get free creative playcards!)  Watch my youtube videos here: http://www.youtube.com/user/creativeboho

JAN HENNINGS • Sept. - Oct. - Nov. 2009

I've been a card maker for the last fifteen years and have branched out into scrapbook layouts, altered item, gifts and love making 3-D projects. One of my favorite things is to find an item I can recycle, reuse and rethink. I'm a wife and a mom of seven children.  I have a special place in my heart for kids and serve on the Board of Director's for a Child Advocacy Organization.

My work has been published in Stampington and Company (Gallery Magazine) and upcoming publication in Bel Armoire Magazine. You can also find my art in scrapbooking.com, Ready, Set, Create! and Scrapbook News and Review.

I currently have projects in Spellbinder's Pendant Contest where my purse was listed and an Honorable Mention and on the Bind-It-All blog where my Summer Fun Album was chosen as a winner in their contest.

LINDA HESS • June - July - August 2009

I have been working with polymer clay since 1994, when I bought a piece from an artist and she allowed me to "pick her brain" about the stuff. I went to the craft shop, bought some, and started on my polymer journey!

Currently I teach polymer clay classes to children in after-school groups and to adults through local bead shops. Their abilities never cease to amaze! I never feel I am going to "work" because I have such fun. I sell my work at craft shows, online, and through local shops. Others have described my work as not fitting into any one niche. I can safely describe my style as multi media/multi-dimensional. I sculpt, cane, quilt, paint, sew, work in paper and scrapbooking...pretty much anything that is asked (Can you??? is a popular question that has only once or twice been answered to the negative).
I am married and have 3 beautiful children.

NANCY WARD June - July - August 2009

I started crafting when I was a child and have never stopped.  Through the years,  I think I’ve fiddled with just about every craft that’s out there.  Some didn’t hold my interest for too long, but paper and fabric have been at the top of my list for years.  Although every craft provides an opportunity to grow and learn,  patchwork and quilting have provided me with knowledge that has been invaluable in all crafting, and especially in paper crafts.

It’s hardly a surprise that the three books I’ve written, Fabric Painting Made Easy, Stamping Made Easy, and The Complete Guide to Glues & Adhesives, contained patchwork/quilting projects.

In addition to the books, I self-published a quilt making pattern, have written many magazine articles, and have an active blog.

I’ve taught a few thousand hours of classes in topics ranging from patchwork/quilting to fabric painting to stamping to rug braiding to embroidery to Christmas crafts to polymer clay to knitting...and more.

I can’t imagine not crafting…it’s what I do!
